Privacy Policy

Not reviewed by a lawyer. It was written to match exactly what the code does, and the Chrome Web Store privacy form must agree with it. Have it checked before launch.

The short version

Only on clickPerry reads the chat box when you click him — never the rest of the page.
Not storedA prompt is improved, then forgotten — unless you turn on history.
No trainingPerry uses Google's paid Gemini tier, whose terms rule out training on your words.
Built in GermanyDesigned for the GDPR from the first line. Export or delete everything, any time.

Perry does not store your prompts, unless you ask him to. By default your draft is sent to be improved, the improvement comes back, and the text is kept nowhere. What we keep is a count of how often Perry has been used, so the free weekly allowance can be enforced.

There is one exception, and it is entirely your choice: prompt history. It is off until you switch it on in Perry's settings, and it is the only feature that stores what you wrote. See below.

The one thing worth reading properly is the section on Google below, because your prompt text does reach them.

Who is responsible

The controller under the GDPR is the person named in the Impressum.

What stays in your browser

These never leave your computer unless listed in the next section:

WhatWhy
Your “knows you” profileSo improvements can be specific to you — not sent at all while Private use is on
A random device IDTo count your weekly allowance without an account
Counts and timings of your useShown to you on the settings page

Removing the extension, or using “Clear everything” in its settings, deletes all of it.

What is sent when you click Perry

Only when you click the button or press the shortcut — never automatically:

WhatGoes toKept?
Your draft promptOur server, then GoogleNo
Your profileOur server, then GoogleNo
Your device IDOur serverYes — see retention
Your IP addressOur serverOnly as a salted hash

Prompt history — the one thing that stores your words

Off by default. If you switch it on in Perry's settings, each improvement also stores the draft you typed and the prompt Perry wrote, so you can find them again later in your library.

SwitchWhat happens
Off (default)No prompt text is stored anywhere. Ever.
OnDrafts and improvements are stored against this browser's anonymous ID.

Ordinary history is deleted automatically after 180 days, and only the most recent 200 entries per browser are kept. Prompts you explicitly save to your library are kept until you delete them — that is what saving means.

You can read, search, delete individual entries or wipe the lot from the library page at any time, and turning the switch off stops anything further being stored. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like by turning it off.

What our server records

One row per request, containing: the device ID, which kind of request it was, which AI model answered, a salted SHA-256 hash of your IP address, and the time. No prompt text and no profile data, ever. The IP is hashed because the address itself is personal data and we have no need for it; the hash only lets us notice one source making an unreasonable number of requests.

Server logs record the type of request and how long it took. Not its content.

Legal basis

Processing your prompt to improve it: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — it is the service you asked for. Counting usage and hashing IPs: Art. 6(1)(f) — our legitimate interest in not having the service abused and in keeping it affordable.

Retention

Usage rows are deleted automatically after 30 days. Nothing else is kept.

Who else processes your data

WhoWhat forWhere
Supabase Runs our server and database EU (Frankfurt, eu-central-1)
Google (Gemini API) Produces the improved prompt Google infrastructure, may be outside the EU
Resend Sends the sign-in code to your email address Sent from the EU (Ireland); Resend Inc. is based in the USA

About Google specifically

Your draft and your profile are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the improvement. With Private use switched on in Perry's settings, only your draft is sent — Perry still improves it, without your profile. Perry runs on Google's paid API tier, where Google's own terms state that they do not use your prompts or responses to improve their products, and do not train models on them. Google logs requests briefly, solely to detect abuse of their service.

That is a meaningful difference from the free tier, where prompts may be read by human reviewers and used for training — which is why Perry does not use it.

Even so: your prompt does reach Google. Don't put passwords, payment details, or personal data about other people into a prompt you ask Perry to improve. That is good practice with any AI tool, not a quirk of ours.

The website

No cookies, no analytics, no tracking, and no fonts loaded from anywhere else — which is why there is no cookie banner. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks, and may keep ordinary server logs.

If you sign in on the website, your email address goes to Supabase (our database provider, servers in Frankfurt) to send you a sign-in code, and your session is then kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. Nothing is stored for visitors who don't sign in, and signing out removes it. This storage is strictly necessary for a service you asked for, so it needs no consent (§ 25(2) no. 2 TTDSG). If you upgrade, payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own pages; we never see your card details.

Trying Perry on the website

The demo on our homepage plays a fixed example by itself. If you type your own prompt (or change the role or style on its card) and click Perry, that text — and the card's details, unless Private use is on — is sent to our server and on to Google's Gemini API to be improved, exactly as from the extension. It is not stored: history is always off for website tries.

To count the free weekly allowance, a random ID is kept in your browser's local storage, and your IP address is hashed (never stored as is) to stop a single network from overusing it. Both happen only when you click Perry, and are strictly necessary for the try you asked for (§ 25(2) no. 2 TTDSG).

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing, plus the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

In practice, the extension's settings page has “Export my data” and “Delete my data”. Signed out, they cover the usage rows held against your device ID. Signed in, they cover everything held against your account: usage, saved prompts and your synced profile. To close the account itself — your email address and plan — email us at the address in the Impressum; billing records that tax law requires us to keep are kept for that period only. Removing the extension deletes everything stored in your browser immediately.

Children

Perry is not intended for children under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the extension will say so.
